Waffles with Ham and Cheese
Ingredients
Dry Ingredients
- 300 g wheat flour
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/3 teaspoon salt
Wet Ingredients
- 500 ml milk
- 100 g butter
- 25 g fresh yeast *
- 2 eggs
Toppings
- 100 g ham
- 80 g yellow cheese
- 1/2 bell pepper
- optionally: chives, chili
Preparation
- Sift the flour into a bowl. Add the remaining dry ingredients (sugar, baking powder, salt) and mix.
- In a pot on low heat (up to max. 40°C) warm the milk and dissolve the butter in it, stirring with a whisk (or with a mixer on low speed). Add the crumbled yeast, eggs and mix thoroughly. Gradually pour the contents of the pot into the bowl with the dry ingredients while mixing to get a uniform batter. Continue mixing for another 2 minutes.
- Cover the prepared batter with a cloth or food wrap and let it rest: for 2 hours at room temperature or overnight in the refrigerator (after removing from the refrigerator, also wait 2 hours before cooking the waffles).
- Add finely chopped toppings to the rested batter and mix, place on a well-preheated waffle iron.
