Bagel with spicy tuna
Ingredients
- 2 bagels (homemade or from a bakery)
- 1/2 avocado
- lemon juice
- 1/2 cucumber
- 1/4 red onion
- handful of arugula
Tuna paste
- 1 can of tuna in its own juice
- 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
- about 1/2 teaspoon hot sauce (e.g., sriracha)
- 1 teaspoon tomato paste
- 1 tablespoon mayonnaise
- salt and pepper
Preparation
- Prepare the tuna paste: drain the tuna in a sieve, place in a bowl, add olive oil and hot sauce (in the amount to taste, as each sauce has a different level of spiciness). Add tomato paste and mayonnaise. Season with salt and pepper, mix.
- Prepare the toppings: peel and slice the avocado, sprinkle with lemon juice. Peel the cucumber and slice it. Peel the red onion and slice it thin.
- Cut the bagels and lightly toast in a toaster. On the bottom part spread the tuna paste. Then place the cucumber, onion, arugula and avocado. Season the vegetables with salt and pepper, cover with the other bagel half.
- Cut the bagels across into 2 parts and serve.
