optional: 1 teaspoon vanilla extract, 1 tablespoon peanut butter or a pinch of salt
a few strawberries
100 g semisweet or milk chocolate
Preparation
Preheat the oven to 160°C. Prepare a small rectangular baking pan, 21 cm x 28 cm (or another with the same surface area, e.g. 24 x 24 cm), grease it with butter and line it with parchment paper.
Place the butter in a saucepan and melt over very low heat. Add the 2 bars of dark chocolate (200 g) broken into small pieces and melt, stirring constantly. Remove from the heat.
In a separate bowl, beat or whisk the eggs with the sugar. Add the melted chocolate and butter, along with the vanilla and peanut butter if using, and mix or whisk until smooth.
Add the flour and mix into a uniform batter. Pour into the prepared pan, arrange thin slices of strawberries on top, spaced about 1 cm apart. Sprinkle with the semisweet or milk chocolate cut into 1.2 cm cubes.
Bake for about 35 minutes, until the cake rises slightly (if using a larger pan, it will be ready sooner; if using a smaller one, extend the baking time). Once baked and cooled, cut into small pieces.
