Wheat Bread – Bread Recipe
Ingredients
- 25 g fresh yeast or 7 g instant
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 300 ml warm milk
- 500 g wheat flour
- 1 1/2 teaspoons sea salt
- for brushing: 1 egg beaten with 1 tablespoon milk + 1 tablespoon sesame (optional)
Preparation
- Crumble the yeast into a mug, add sugar, about 1/2 cup warm milk and 1 tablespoon flour. Mix well and let sit for 15 minutes to rise.
- Sift the remaining flour into a bowl, mix with salt. Add yeast and then gradually pour the remaining milk while gently stirring the ingredients with a wooden spoon.
- Combine into one mass and knead for 15 minutes into smooth and elastic dough (by hand, with a stand mixer or in a bread machine).
- Place in a large bowl, cover with a cloth and set aside to rise in a warm place for 45 minutes.
- Punch down the dough, cover with a cloth and leave for another 45 minutes to rise again.
- Grease a long loaf pan (30 cm) with oil. Form the dough into a roll and twist it forming an S shape. Place in the pan, cover with a cloth and set aside to rise (above the rim of the pan), for about 1 hour.
- Preheat the oven to 200°C. Brush the top of the bread with part of the egg and milk mixture and sprinkle with sesame. Place in the oven. Bake for approximately 35-40 minutes, until golden.
Tips
You can make it entirely with whole wheat flour type 1400 adding 1 teaspoon sugar.
You can add 4 tablespoons of wheat bran or oat flakes, increasing the amount of milk to 500 ml.
